Me and The Others

all of us

Hello Today Is April 16th

Hi so I haven’t written in a while but I am hoping that will change since Mom, Eli and I are trying out a new system were we put blocks of time to something and then do it, for exaple this morning my alarm went off at 7 which we planned then the next hour was given for us all to get ready for our day, shower dress eat ect. then from 8 – 9 we spent doing quiet chores: sorting laundry, cleaning out room, ect. Then from 9-10 we did loud chores like laundry, vacuming, ect. a 30 minute break and now we, form 10:30 – 12 we work like math science, LA, ect.  The only reason (other than I miss you) that I wrote was I was unable to get on to ten marks, time to do some khan!

Bye !!!

The American Way

I am attempting to navigate the world of socialized medicine. I was able to get “registered” yesterday, and had to call for an “urgent” appointment to get a prescription refilled because they are booking out two weeks in advance right now.

I called at 8:30 am on the dot and was 9th in the phone queue. It didn’t take too long to get through which was nice.

The receptionist answered, “May I help?”
I told her what I needed, and she gave me a time for today at 3:40 pm. Which is fantastic! Then she asked my birthdate.
I said, ” eleven, two, oh, wait I am doing this wrong. The second of November 19…”

The receptionist said, “Oh, you are in the American way aren’t you.”

I felt sheepishly embarrassed, perhaps not unlike a pregnant teenager.

So apparently after 4 months England, I am still in the American way. 🙂 Now I am giggling about it.

Italy – Agriturismo Montalbino

At Gatwick Airport - going to Pisa, Italy

We are staying at the most awesome place. Our friends found it. It is agriturisimo at its best. Donkeys, chickens, pigs, goats, geese, turkeys and cows.

Pig families settling down for the night.  Mom & Dad lay snout to snout and piglets pile in the middle.

A very cold but beautiful pool and lovely restaurant. Our apartment is a refurbished old barn and it is very nice. Old brick floors on the ground floor and nice hard wood stairs and upstairs.

Il Fienile at Agriturismo Montabino

1st Sunset over the Tuscan valley

Jeff readying, ” You are Not so Smart” under an olive tree. The weather is perfect!

Heading to Pisa tomorrow and Florence on Tuesday. Hoping to do some wine tasting (well actually done a bit of wine tasting at dinner 🙂 ), but also want to see Lucca for their gelato and San Gimignano (sp) for the old buildings and hopefully Siena. I don’t want to run around too much, but this area (tuscany / chianti region) is so beautiful and interesting.

However….. we have bidets and we don’t know how to use them properly. Will need to do a bit of research but am afraid of you tube videos with demos on how. 🙂 he he he

any way- love and miss you all.

Summer Plans

So it’s official. I’m going to see Les Miserables(finally!) at the Orpheum this summer 😀
I’ve always wanted to go. I’m really excited. Also I might be seeing Wicked(cause everyone else saw it without me the last time T.T) but I haven’t decided for sure yet. Other than that, life is as normal.

Spring in Clapham Common

Equinox is tomorrow and Spring has sprung here at the Clapham Common.  A few days ago the girls and I went for a walk to the common for exercise and we had a small photo shoot. It was fun.

Emeline in Tree

Setting sun casts a beautiful glow on my beautiful Emeline

Emeline loves climbing trees and there are some good climbing trees at the Common.

Leanne with Tree

I just love the blossoms

Leanne (Me) finds the blossoms intoxicating.  The smell, the delicate and fleeting beauty.  The explosion of blooms looking like a cloud or cotton ball, but each bloom beautiful in its own right.

California is following us….

Jack O'Neill at Pleasure Point, CA

There is a poster in most of the tube stations, and has been for at least a couple of months. It is Jack O’Neill at Pleasure Point.  Click the picture to see a larger image.

For those of you who are not familiar with Santa Cruz and surf culture.  Jack O’Neill is the inventor of the wet suit and the O’Neill surf shop.  He still lives in Santa Cruz and can be seen around town on occasion.

Some days these posters are a friendly reminder of home and it makes me smile.  It has also been useful in explaining to people where we are from.  However sometimes in just makes me ache with missing friends, family and Santa Cruz.  Most of the time it is a bit of both.

Cheers…It looks like blue skies today – time to go get some vitamin D.
